Phased Particle Cannon
The Phased Particle cannon is a staple of Tak'nhetian fighters. The weapon consists of a phased burst of protons and anti-protons help in a rapidly decaying electromagnetic field. The phased nature of the weapon allows it to bypass many shields and some armor before the matter / anti-matter pair is allowed to react. The yield of the weapon and the collapse timing can be modulated to act as a close combat shot or a flak-cannon burst charge.
While useful against many threats, the psi-shielding on most Hycyanth ships proved to be enough to prevent penetration and this greatly reduce the effectiveness of the PPC in the conflict them with. Larger PPC cannons on cruiser and capitol class ships were still capable of using the flak modes against both small ships and small Hycyanth cruisers.
