  • Ultra speed Fury's ground speed and reflexes are among the fastest among her kind.
  • Bardic Magic Fury is the only other Asreal aside from Ember that can use bardic magic.
Fire claws
Like Ash Fury can create projected weapons. In her case, the weapons are long fingers of fire that may appears to come come the finger tips to forming a gauntlet over her paws with fingers deep inside acting as actuators. This is more than simple control of fire though. This fire is an extension of her soul, and this imbues the fire with unusual properties such as the ability to damage fire-resistant materials. Fury's claws carry some of the demonic essence that powers her empathic engine, but the succubi from which she is associated are not necessarily evil. When Fury has her whole heart into an attack, she can sometimes manifest a kind of purity of heart that causes her fire to burn white, and to be on the receiving end of those claws is not going to be a good time.

Theme Song and Meaning

Standing Outside the Fire by Garth Brooks There are many songs that could be attached to Fury, but this one fits her well. It is a song about braving the wounds to feel the heat of love. Even beyond her needs as an empathic vampire, she is one who always encourages the embracing of emotion and the confrontation of fears. For these reasons, this is her song. She likes to sing it when she can get Ember to play fiddle for it.

Background

Fury is the daughter of Pyre and Senescence, both of which are children of Ember. As a result, a number of recessive traits from Ember have followed into Fury including the ability to use bardic magic and, unfortunately, a strange form a palsy that causes Fury's paws to shake especially when she is using large amounts of energy including both combat and in playing music. She is embarrassed by this as it prevents her from playing instruments, and she hides both her weakness and her emotion by behaving as if she simply prefers singing to anything else.

Empathic Engine

Fury has a unique reactor that was thought to be due to the influence of the succubus Aarlynn in her bloodline, but more careful assessment reveals that just as much of that is due to Ember's influence. As a result, Fury feeds off emotion and does not produce power from dark matter or other peculiar materials. Other Asreal vent a small amount of energy at all times from their reactors that makes it possible to follow them like a life sign, but Fury's system takes in material. By normal means she cannot be detected directly, and her engine is referred to a traceless as a result.

Asrael reactors have stabilizer components meant to allow them to operate under high loads without damaging themselves. Older members have vent spines like Ember and Sabre have, while later ones have wing-like semi- or completely magical ones that rarely grow beyond six to eight feet in extreme cases. Fury is unique in that she possesses six wing like sails twenty to thirty feet long that exist just outside the material plane where they can gather and shunt empathic currents into her reactor. During an overcharge scenario, these sails become partially visible and tend to make her look both massive and terrifying. They are otherwise harmless and usually pass through normal matter even when visible.

This also means that Fury is exquisitely sensitive to emotions, and she can sense them whether they are hidden by someone or masked by the emotions of a crowd. Her need to 'fix' things in that regard means she will meddle in the affairs of others shamelessly and often relentlessly. She is not a fool though, and more often than not she does make circumstances improve in the end.

Relationships with other Asreal

With Ash
Ash is one of three androids that come directly from Shadowstalker's line. Sabre was the fiest, Ghost was made in the image of a younger Shadowstalker, and Ash was that which came when reaper came back for his first child. Ash has just enough emotional control to remain calm and controlled with undercurrents of deeper emotion that drive Fury a little crazy at time. Despite him being younger, Fury treats him as a sibling and a bit of a playful rival. She makes no show of it, but understanding the burden that Ash bears makes her a bit protective of him. She also secretly loves that she has yet to do better than a tie in a sparring bout with him. When she is out on a task with him, Fury does not question Ash's judgement often and usually only with very good reason. When just hanging out, he is one of the few that can get Fury to sit still and just take in the scenery.
With Ghost
Partners in crime tends to be what comes to the minds. Ghost has a love of building things like vehicles and Fury loves to fly them. As the only wallaby among the Asreal, Ghost comes in half-height to everyone but he never feels it around Fury. The air are well known to engage in stock vehicle races off world for the thrill rather than any other reward. As a result, they tend to ham up their acts while flying, and that makes them crowd pleasers with a direct benefit to Fury. Most often the pair fly with no flight computer or repair system as Fury handles the former and Ghost the latter. Ghost's ability to phase and Fury's shields keep both of them safe. Off the course, Fury admires Ghost's spirit and lighthearted look on the world around him and he finds encouragement in her bold actions that still manage to never leave him behind.

Notable Events

Pyre's Resurrection

The Tak'nhetians, and along with them the Asreal, are not without their enemies. A rogue Marcy-class nanomachine colony designated Havoc is one such foe. Massive and capable of spawning specialized smaller units from its mass, Havoc has remained a constant threat to the Asreal and any of those who ally with them. In this case, Fury and her maker Pyre were isolated by a detachment of third and fourth generation Havoc units. Pyre was critically injured in the combat, and her core collapse was immanent, and this is when Fury did what no one could have predicted.

Rather than try to carry her mother's body away, she engaged her claws and tore Pyre's chest open which allowed here to tear the core out of Pyre's body. Immediately thrust into Fury's nanomachine bay, Fury became a life support system for her mother. However, it also caused a resonance cascade between both Pyre and Fury's cores leading to an explosive burst of pyrokinetics that bloomed into a hurricane scale atmospheric fire.

The resulting blaze devastated the small planet but also erased any trace of the thermally sensitive Havoc systems. However there was no one that could get through Fury's storm to stop her until her waker, Senescence. As a powerful shield user like her mother Ember, Sen was able to push through the storm and calm Fury enough to get her powers back into control. It is also the first time Sen was known to show open compassion and concern.

It took weeks for Fury to cease trembling, a severe expression of her palsy due to over use of her abilities for extended times. Pyre began her life again with a new body that benefited from having Fury as a maker including greater emotional resilience than she had in her prior life. It also cemented a family structure among the trio that had yet to form prior. It also, for better or worse, established Fury's habit of doing what must be done even if it is not going to be liked without regret, much like her grandmother.

Attacking Emberr

After the end of the war, Ember took over control of the Tak'nhetian forces as Sabre's health declined. Through her strong will alone, Ember persisted longer than Sabre, but she too was badly worn from a long life filled with strife. More importantly, she has lost her mate, Mina, and from that day on she has not sang even for bardic spells, and even her time playing instruments was rare. Stubborn she pressed on, but her heart courted with the same thing that eventually killed Sabre. Fury, being able to sense such things even better than the Miyanyi, knew something was wrong. Unlike all others, she had no reservations with pressing her grandmother.

The altercation was particularly noteworthy because Ember's defensive barriers were almost perfectly matched with Fury's claws resulting in a situation of the perfect shield against the unstoppable sword. Because of this, Fury forced the issue about Ember not singing and poking at it being tied to Mina's death until she actually got Ember angry. It wasn't hard for Fury because she had a skill that Ember could not defend against: empathic assault. Ember knew what was happening, but she had little idea of how to get by it without actually fighting Fury. Only Ash dared to get in the middle of the fight in his own way, and Soot was watching on the sidelines, and so Ember was forced to use her bardic magic, and thus she fell into Fury's trap.

For every song line Ember could make, Fury would twist it around to her own ends by singing on beat and key with her own spells. Not only did the combat pit offensive spell against each other, but Fury's choice of lyrics kept prodding at old wounds until Ember grew sufficiently irate that she started using lyrics again, trying to erase Fury's demands of 'i this what Mina would have wanted.

Before Ember could lay into Fury with force enough to actually injure her granddaughter, she was joined by another presence. Ash had, in his way, come to stop the fight. As an angel of death, he had found Mina on the other side and brought her back. If he had done it any other time, Ember might not have been as receptive, but she was angry and her heart wounded, and that was just the state she needed to realize what she was about to do and that Mina was right there.

Ember and Fury are two of the strongest spellcasters among the Asreal, and it it is not surprising that both, though mostly Fury, sustained damage in the fight, but she had no regrets. She did what she felt she must, and Ash on friendly rival and co-conspirator, Though she could not linger on this plane, Mina ensured Ember than she was never far away. Fury, Ash, and Mina rattled Ember enough to shake her free of thousands of years of grudges and restores her voice as a bardic implement.

It would be some time later, but Ember eventually joined several other Asreal in performing music. Her first song was devoted to Mina, and again Fury and Ash conspired against her in getting the audience to participate in it with her. Dart fired once again burned warm and bright in Ember's core even if it took quite a thrashing to fan them again.
