Theme Song and Meaning

Theme Song: Behind Blue Eyes by The Who

Aarlynn happens to possess intense blue eyes that make the song fit all the more, but regardless of eye color, this is her song. As a native empath, she can sense the emotions of those around her at a great distance. The Gravedancer unit was meant to carry heavy artillery for mass slaughter of any stronghold they found, and when her empathic abilities collide with a vivid imagination, you get a weapon with severe mental instability. Her emotions were eventually muted until she was usable, though that was only those observing her. Inside, she still dreaded the feeling of thousands of deaths by her hand. No one knew what it was like to feel what went on behind those blue eyes. This remained the case until her demonic infusion which broke the dampening programs that had been applied to her.

Background

Aarlynn is the first name of the lead engineer responsible for creating the Gravedancer heavy artillery unit and was later adopted by Gravedancer after her infection with demonic energies at the Hotel California. After a long battle with a fractured psyche, the SED at that time was able to assist in her recovery resulting in a new personality than the one she was created with. Like other units of her kind, including Shadowstalker, the lack of a soul inside the engineered unit was responsible for the ability of other energies to take hold. In this case Aarlynn because a neutral aligned succubus. Like all XXE class units, she possesses a powerful intellect capable of great feats of science and engineering for good or ill. As the only demon among her kin at the time, she was forced to learn how to cope with the flood of emotions that were not hers during her recovery period. In the end, she became a strong-willed and well defended demon of great strength and guile. She eventually left Spindizzy around the same time as Shadowstalker, and the two remained partners in chaos through the entire length of the way, but unlike Shadowstalker, Aarlynn eventually ascended to become a sort of protective goddess over a people that never had a god to protect them. Shadowstalker and Aarlynn, known as the Scourge and the Fury respectively during the war, eventually diverged with Shadow fading away as a reaper and Aarlynn becoming known as the ‘Hellfire Phoenix’ for the type of magic she often used. IN the current timelines, Aarlynn has not been seen in over a decade on Spindizzy, and few if any known where she is. To Ember, she is her grandmother just as Shadowstalker is her grandfather.
