KD88

Star System

The KD88 system is a distant star system that exists in the far edge of the galaxy IC 342. It consists of a binary system with a sun-like main sequence star and a smaller red main sequence star. The system is almost devoid of planets except for small asteroid like debris in a narrow band between the stars and two small habitable planets.

• KD88A is a red star with a mass about 500 times that of Jupiter. It has a single habitable planet in orbit, KD88A-1 is also known as Rykna, and is home to a single sentient species known as Ryknix.

• KD88B, a yellow main sequence with a comparable mass to the sun bears several habitable planets depending on your defintion of life. KD88B-1, known as Terrtez, is a super-Earth about 1.4 Earth masses and has two natural satellites. One is Moon sized named Des and orbits slightly closer in than Earth's moon, and the other is more distant and is the size of Mars. This moon is known as Kreer. All three are inhabited by sentient life, but the forms of life are all very different.
  • Terrtez is home to Earth like species, monsters, magic, and high technology including the Otrayk and the gooroos.
  • Des is inhabited primarily by a somewhat mysterious collection of silicon-based beings that subsist mostly on a form of solar energy and work as a collective. No one is sure if they are native to the system or not.
  • Kreer has been partially settled by species from Terrtez, but also has its own subterranean life that exists deeper down where the latent heat of the planet and nuclear decay keep it warm. Many of these organisms are 'Godzilla like' in their ability touse radioactive decay as an energy source.
