June and August

June and August were cloned from the remains of a Pulsar class scout vessel that accidentally de-phased in a moon. While the internal shell and defenses survived, there was sufficient biological material that Iris Industrial Genetics was able to extract.

After finding intact cells, Iris was able to begin working on the sequence of this highly unusual sample. The genetic structure, code, and protein coding as well as amino acids were about fifty percent greater in variety than a human, and this made cloning difficult. Because there was a trace of cells, culture was instead used to see if a stem-like cell might produce a full organism. Expecting it to be little more than some random resident of the galaxy or perhaps little more than exotic bacteria, everyone was surprised when two different samples produced two monstrously large organic specimens. They were even more surprised when they were found to be sentient.

June and August, female and make, Felyxa are both reader class. Because they were created and taught by indigenous races working for Iris, they do not know native Felyxa language. However, because there are protections in place for cloning naturally sentient species, Iris could not use them in their current state for anything else. Being able to say you brought a sentient explorer race back from the dead is still a huge accomplishment.

June and August were taken in by the company in a sort of PR stunt that allowed Iris to see the full extent of their capabilities. The pair took to each other, and they eventually gave birth to a some named Keene who was noted in particular for having beautiful green and amber eyes.
