Physical Characteristics

Tesla is the largest Kaelid android produced as of the date of his awakening. Just shy of a full meter in height, he stands out above other 'tall' Kaelid ADUs such as Coulomb and Joule. Despite his increased size, he weighs only a about 20% more than Joule. His long tail and petagium resemble that of flying squirrels. Like all Kaelid ADUs, Tesla's coloration in unnatural. Joule chose a color theme of forged iron for Tesla's body, and this has additional meaning when considering much of Tesla's systems were built with the help of Pira's forge.

In addition to his long tail, Tesla possesses three extendable wire antennae marked by yellow dots on his upper back. These are tied to sensors as well as some of his special operational modes.

Power System

Tesla uses a very atypical power system. like Joule, he operates with a form of aether fusion that releases energy from fusion of principle magic particles. Tesla also uses the same material as a coolant and a flight system. While Joule was mostly aspected as a water-elemental user, Tesla is aspected to air. Built into his gliding membranes are powerful flight force engines as well as pools of liquid aether that greatly reduce his effective mass. This liquid aether supply can be recharged through energy transduction through the ground function from mundane or magical sources. The operational pool of aether is large enough within Tesla that he can go months without refueling as long as he is not transmitting or otherwise consuming power for other reasons.

As far of a reserve power and trickle charge system, Tesla ha a compact and newly revised AES skimmer system in his tail. While not as efficient as the large units on Faraday and Coulomb, it is better per unit volume and mass. It is tightly coupled to the Ground function along with a spike charge capacitor that allows him to be struck with high power spells and electrical phenomena, absorb it, and either reuse or redirect it.

Flight Systems

Joule's fluidics engine could operate in air and water, but thrust was dependent on the density of the medium he was in. External systems were soon developed that could give Joule more flight power at the cost of energy in the way of flight suits. The best of these suits was integrated into Tesla to give him exceptional lift and speed. Because his liquid aether supply perfuses and partially vaporizes in his petagium (gliding membranes), he can negate gravitational effects easily. This makes him lighter than he should seem to be, and it allows him to carry more than he ought to. Most of the time, Bell is on his back and riding with him as he flies. While Tesla won't be chasing fightercraft on his own,he can still cruise fast enough to count as a small aircraft for extended periods.

Personality

Tesla could be said to ear his heart on his sleeve. He is very active and expressive as you might expect something based on a squirrel to be, but he also tends to be somewhat more transparent about his emotional state than any other android to date. While generally kind and outgoing, he more likely than even Coulomb when it comes to taking up arms against a foe. This is especially true when the safety of Bell is in question.

Tesla loves to sing, and this compliments Bell well as she rarely speaks and prefers instrumentation. In good times, he is energetic, silly, and is unique in that he enjoys cooking for others. Tesla is capable of ingesting small amounts of non-fuel material without suffering side effects, and this later led to him developing a fairly accurate sense of taste. he even uses cooking as a distraction when he is nervous or upset.

Despite his emotionally chaotic nature, he is very loyal to his friends and about as stubborn as both Coulomb and Faraday once his mind is set on something including if he decides he is going to look after someone.

Tesla's Four Modes

Like all of the Kaelid ADUs in his line, Tesla has four special magic-like modes of operation. The pattern of two utility, one offensive, and one creative mode has held fast.

Mode 1 Ground: Ground can be taken as simply as the ability to ground out a circuit. However, in Tesla's case, this means he can force changes in the ground conditions including redirecting it or scrambling it. The most direct example of Tesla using Ground is during electrical storms or in the presence of electrical discharged. In these situations, Tesla may or may not extend his antennae for better range, but he can redirect all power towards himself or another target. Tesla' engine system is unique for many reasons, but among them is his ability to endure and even charge up from power spikes.

A second use of ground can be considered more offensive in nature. by interfering with the grounds in electronics other than himself, he can disrupt floating ground designs and cause massive failure within microprocessor based systems by inverting ground circuits

Mode 2 Object Read: While Joule had a role is designing some of Tesla's modes, the object read system seems to have been spawned from Joule's afterlife radio circuits and some of Tesla's tactile sensors. So long as Tesla remains in physical contact with an object, he can choose to try and see into the history of that object. Hindsight is rarely twenty twenty in cases like this, though events that leave particularly strong imprints tend to come out clearer than others. This can be risky when going shopping where questionable goods may be found as Tesla may well call out the merchant on the foul history of their wares. Sometimes the only saving grace he and his sister have had comes from Bell slapping a paw over Tesla's muzzle and dragging him off.

Mode 3 Wireless Transfer: One of the reasons Joule chose the name for Tesla comes from the ties to the inventor and his attempts are wireless power transmission with the other reason being a foreboding feeling that the android may manifest with a disturbing fascination with pigeons. Mode three has traditionally been considered the offensive mode. Even Joule's Assist mode is readily used in combat. Tesla can do anything from remote jump a car to microwave a person where the stand. Combined with Ground, he can wreak havoc on electronics of all forms as well as some enchantments. Run in reverse, Tesla can also suck power out of other electrical and enchanted systems. However, it is most often used to inductively heat cookware on camping trips.

Mode 4 Time Gate: Like Joule, Tesla has a gate ability, but his is not meant to travel across space but instead time. He cannot gate both parameters at once, so he must go to a location he wants to transit before he opens a gate. So long as he does not use the same area repeatedly for transit, he tends not to create high probability paradox states. It is unclear if Joule meant to do this, but Tesla and Bell believe that this was Joule's way of giving Tesla a second chance at a critical moment of the sort his father, Faraday likely wished he had long ago.
