Song: Fight Song by Rachel Platten

Physical Characteristics

Although her tail is not as voluminous, Bell is almost the same size as Coulomb at 80 cm head to heel. While she is slender, she is still stockier than Coulomb and somewhat more durable as well. Her fur coloration comes from the wood hues of stringed instruments including some gold and silver markings from brass instruments. She was built with more 'muscle' mass than the others that came before her such that she can lift more than her body mass even if that tops out at a meager 25 kg. it is, however, enough to readily pick up Tesla and move him to safety if she has to as well as drag him away from trouble he might otherwise get himself into.

Silver and brass colors on Bell's body are special in that silver surfaces contain magic sensory and manipulation systems beneath them, and the brass colors are powerful casting surfaces much as they were in Joule's design.

Spirit Form

Maynard, being a raccoon trickster spirit, has an abstract spirit like form that has been seen by some. Because of his involvement in creating Bell, she also has such a spirit form, but hers it quite different. Instead of bearing resemblance to native american totems, Bell's spirit looks more like old Japanese wood block art.

If one were to see Bell's spirit, she would be a fennec fox with red fur akin to red fox instead of a fennec. Her face bears decorations like Japanese style fox masks, but the details of the markings appears to be very subtle technical markings that might be related to her android design. Most of her form is hidden in an old European style cloak that hides most of her figure except for the white tips of three tails peeking out the bottom of the cloak. She is a trickster, but she borrows from a tradition where the female instead of the male is the trickster. In addition, the three tails correspond to herself and her origin. One tip is sketchy like Maynard's spirit, one has delicate blue lines in the white coming from Joule, and the central tail is hers alone and still developing.

Power System

Unlike Tesla who is built to acquire and generate huge amounts of power, Bell tends to use more than she can generate when operating at full capacity. This is not usually a problem though as Tesla almost always serves as an additional power source by using his wireless power transfer function. like Joule and Tesla, Bell operates on a aether fusion system, but her reactor is laid out more like Joule's than Tesla's meaning that she has high production potential but does not have large overcharge capacity. Day to day this means very little, but in situations of conflict, she has to ration her power unless she has other sources accessible.

Acoustic Systems

The primary draw on Bell's power system is her acoustic control functionality. Her shockwave mode can produce sound intensities close to 200 dB, which can kill organic life at close range and cause extensive damage to structures around her. She can shape these pulses to avoid her allies most o the time which is impressive as this is a sound wave similar to a one ton bomb. She can also use this capacity to create anti-waves to neutralize the force of grenades and even some bombs. She can also set up subtle standing waves as a form of security when on watch.

Bell's voice has another special property that can always be draining for her. Bell's voice carries into the land of the dead, and this tends to attract spirits of many forms. She cannot disable this functionality, and it does draw power through her mode 2 spirit link function, so she tends to be quiet most of the time and use sign language ore wireless communications when needed.

Personality

Bell contrasts sharply with Tesla in that she is very reserved and tends not to make a lot of noise. She enjoys most music that uses a broad instrumentation, she is a sucker for well sung love songs, and she can often be found working a pottery wheel. Though she tends to be quiet, she is not someone that can be easily pushed around. As much as Tesla tends to be protective of her, Bell is quite capable of taking her of problems on her own. The fury of a woman scorned might be the right way to described her if she feels miffed.

Because of her spirit link, she tends to be very aware of what others cannot see. She has Joule's bug about mending things, and she likes to try and fix situations when she can. While she is in contact with many among both the living and dead, she tends to have few close friends that she cherishes rather than having a lot of mediocre friends.

Bell will sometimes sing, often a a duet with Tesla, knowing she will have a broad audience. Her voice tends to have a very soothing quality about it most of the time, and this is not by chance but a fact resulting from the magic that is always in her words. She has a warm and welcoming smile, and she is an excellent listener. She is also one of the few folks who can get Tesla to calm down. She loves her brother dearly, and she worries about him a great deal. It is less the catastrophes that worry her but how thing his skin in and how easily wounded emotionally that concerns her. She and her brother wwill always have at least three loves in common: flying, singing, and each other.

Bell's Four Modes

Like all of the Kaelid ADUs in his line, Bell has four special magic-like modes of operation. The pattern of two utility, one offensive, and one creative mode has held fast.

Mode 1 Wave Manipulation
This mode covers the control of non-destructive compression waves including the creation of standing waves and interference with them as part of a security system. It can also be used for rapid calculation of a counter wave that can be used on its own or in conjunction with the mode 3 shockwave to negate the effects of incoming waves. This tends only to work for air and similar density materials. In high density media, adding shockwave into the effect tends to be too destructive and harder for her to control.
Mode 2 Spirit Link
As Coulomb has a sort of empathic link with those around her, Bell is tied to natural spirits and those of the dead. this is an extension of her afterlife radio unit that has been permanently stuck in the on position. It allows her to readily detect and communicate with most local spirits. It also causes her to attract such spirits as she tends to generate a calming aura that troubles spirits are often drawn to.
Mode 3 Shockwave
Bell is by far one the most devastating androids in her lineage with the ability to produce shockwaves on the scale of bombs in the ton range. When linked with modes 2 and 4, she can attract spirits and people alive that she can all to arms most of the time. Because of the power it requires and the potential to do harm, Bell almost never uses this mode much like Faraday always avoided using his third mode unless lives were at stake.
Mode 4 Bardic Magic
Bell has a functionality that seems to borrow from Faraday's quantum interference engine, but instead of hacking into machines, she is making sounds from the quantum level up. The end effect is the ability to make sounds appear from nowhere, and she has as many voices as she can handle which usually comes to the size of a large orchestra. Unlike most bards that use an instrument as part of their art, Bell appears to the casual observer to be a sort of conductor with a phantom orchestra at her command. She can use this to create magic effects of anything she has trained in. She can sing along with this mode for greater effect, but she is most powerful when Tesla is added to the vocals and to her power reserves.

Bell's Exosuit

Bell is very well aware of how small she is and how little force her body can generate. However, she is also not foolish, and she has a firm grip on engineering. So when a dangerous task comes up, she suits up to be a better support unit for her group and protect herself as well.

Bell's exosuit is both practical and easy on the eyes. Most of the inner workings are covered by by what one would mistakenly think are plastic panels. The mostly sand colored matte panels have black seams between them where they seal to protect the interior of the suit. The material is actually a lightweight allow that Bell hasn't been willing to share with anyone, but there are rumors that the means to craft it came from secrets known only to the dead. Standing 1.5 meters tall, the suit's torso houses most of the primary systems as well as a shielded compartment where Bell herself rides. Closed up entirely in this suit, Bell relies on the suit's sensors for most of her information as she pilots it. The head houses six eyes arranged in a circle around the head to give her vision in all directions. An assortment of auditory sensors are also present both on the head and on the front and back of the torso so that she can detect and triangulate the direction of sounds. Mounted on her back are two slender blade like projections a meter long mounted near the shoulder. They are almost like slender wings, but they do not provide flight capability. They are, in fact, advanced sensor antennae, and the tips are capped with front and back cameras so she can look around corners without exposing herself. Mounted between the blade wings is a larger backpack like unit that serves as a container for equipment.

The suit's main engines are located in the legs so that a reactor issue won't necessarily take out the whole suit. Hands and feet are coated on one side with a rubbery gripping material. Unlike the suits Joule and Tesla made, Bell's suit comes armed with a concealed blaster in the arms, and both feet and claws have retractable claws built specifically for close combat. Bell definitely takes after her grandparents and her father in terms of aggression and less like Joule, and the offensive capabilities of this unit highlight this.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found is a theatrical name that Bell and Tesla use for the shows they put on. Their shows are unusual in many ways in that there are no microphones, amplifiers, or instruments involved. The standard setup consists of either front stage with a wide-open space in front of it followed by seating or, when available, a theatre in the round configuration. This plain appearance is often enough to make newcomers question whether they are in the right place while returning guests see it for what it is: a blank canvas. The theatre is usually only sold at half to two thirds full, and the empty seats are again an enigma to the uninitiated.

Because of Bell’s bardic abilities, music is much more than just sound and harmony. A typical show will begin with Bell performing the opening song with only her voice and then the phantom instrumentation she is known for. When she feels that the audience is ready for more, she starts to use her abilities to produce visual effects that rapidly take over the blank stage and turn it into any number of things. She has played in jungles, cities, deserts, space, and many other places bound only by imagination.

After a few songs, Tesla will generally join Bell both for harmony but also to keep her energized as her effects can be draining. Despite her ability to make sound, she still loves when Tesla plays or sings as she feels there is so much more soul in his music. The added power of Tesla’s performance and the synergy of both androids working together begins to erode the barrier between life and death, and this is where they found their stage names, but no one knows for sure which is lost and who is found. What they do know is what begins to appear within the theatre: ghosts.

It is not quite right to call them ghosts as they are spirits that have crossed over rather than lingered and were attracted by Bell’s voice. A trick of the tickets used for the show created a subtle beacon that increases the chances that those watching the show might soon find themselves in the presence of loved ones lost. A bit of panic is normal, and Bell is good at controlling this with her music. As such reunions tend to be emotionally charged, the music usually changes to something softer and soothing at this point that intrudes little on the meeting or living and dead. Lost and Found takes its name from this meeting as their original name was going to be Loves Lost and Found.

Once the crowd settles and both living and dead are ready, performance moved to its third stage what takes advantage of the open space near the stage as Tesla and Bell gently encourage both living and dead to enjoy dancing in the realms they make for them. The third stage is often the longest set of songs with the intent of letting all souls in the room enjoy company they could probably never find outside the show. All things do have to end though, and the pair try to end with hopeful songs that often emphasize the idea that this is not goodbye but merely until later. Though often tearful, most performances end well, and repeat visitors are not uncommon once they know what to expect. Tickets for the shows do tend to sell out, and when or where they may appear again is never certain. It is one of the only places Bell can be herself and be happy with the result.

It is the goal of Lost and Found to give hope to their audience in their own unique way. Of course, the first performance was for an audience of three as they brought Coulombs back to the mortal plane for Joule and Faraday. While an expedition to visit Coulomb predated them, this was the first time she returned to the land of the living. While none of the androids have the ability to make tears, it does not stop them from experiencing the emotions that would warrant them. The result of this first performance drove Bell and Tesla to make more formal shows, and now and again when he is near enough to do so, Faraday will come to a show where everyone can see him and Coulomb dance as they once did so very long ago.
