Background

While Darwin has the appearance of a archaeopteryx, Franklin can only be described as a chimera. While Darwin's chassis has an ancient appearance, there is no doubt that Franklin was meant to be seen as a patchwork made beautiful. It is also a play on her name which was taken from Rosalind Franklin because her chimera status is something one can imagine comes from the manipulation of DNA were she organic. Another difference between Darwin and Franklin is that she was created by the two androids that happened to be both female aspects and most tied to broader magic and the afterlife. While meant to be a companion to Darwin, she was made after he was operational. The designs for her systems came primarily from Bell's dreams and Coulomb's coaxing those dreams into light.

Appearance

While not as tall as Tesla or Coulomb, Franklin tests new limits to size and mass in Kaelid android systems. When tail, horns, and wings are taken into account, Franklin is almost twice the wingspan of Tesla and slightly longer than Coulomb. Franklin's colors resemble Joule's and she was meant to be the leyline magic user of her generation. The colors are also a call back to the armband rank Faraday possesses on his Xirit derived arm.

Chimeric Modes

Mode 1 Combine

Combine is a construction mode that allows simple combinations such as melding two objects all the way up to full hybridizing of objects into some thing new. This gives Franklin access to materials and energies that may not otherwise be available either from rarity or because they don't exist elsewhere. It also allows her to control energy combinations used in alchemical transmutation used in more conventional magic. Examples include fusing broken parts, melding metals to create allows, and in combination with Mode 2, melding a spirit to a physical object.

Mode 2 Soul Scan

While Darwin as a very powerful scanning mode, it is limited to the physical world. Franklin compliments this with the ability to not only detect spirits but to scan them like they were physical matter and conventional energy. THe skill comes from both Bell and Coulomb's strong spirit ties. She can assess weaknesses and strengths, and it can be used in an offensive manner by service as a targeting system. MOst often, this mode is used as a diagnostic, and when combined with Darwin's Heal mode, it is possible to mend spirits.

Mode 3 X-ray Beam

Franklin can use this to do structural analysis on everything from crystals to building structures, but like most Kaelid android mode 3 systems, it is also meant as an offensive system. Franklin gets her offensive mode from Coulomb who had a broader, hard-light style use of energy. Franklin can generate incredibly powerful x-ray and even gamma beams that can do incredible damage to organic systems and many inorganic ones. She tends to rely on it more for more civil tasks, and combining it with Darwin's Scan mode and her Soul Scan can result in a comprehensive examination of unusual materials and devices as well as anything that might be invisibly bonded to them like ghosts in a machine.

Mode 4 Transcend

Darwin has plasticity of body while Franklin has a spirit so strong that it can shift away from its body safely. Transcend allows Franklin to send her spirit out of her body and have it exist in a somewhat poltergeist like state that can interact with objects but is otherwise hidden from those who cannot sense spirits. It is the last part of her chimeric nature, a part not as obvious as her physical body's structure is. She cannot exist out of her body indefinitely, but she can travel miles from her core before needing to return. When used with MOde 3, her beam attacks take on a spiritual wavelength instead of a regular photon type that allows her to take actions against spirits and makes her very dangerous to undead.
