Personality

General Traits

Of the three chodonex, Ritz is the great wanderer. That space can be so vast, empty, and unforgiving and yet bear the sparks of beautiful things like mortal life is what drives much of what he does. With the uncanny ability to look into a sky and find life, he routinely uses 'Open Sky' to make portals from one place to another. Like other chodonex, he is a meddler and generally an agent of harmony, and despite Open being one of the more dangerous verbs that are prone to maliciousness, he has not yet turned it against a living being.

Ritz comes across as silly, and his refusal to land does not help at all. Those that are around him long enough will realize it is because his feet are tender and very sensitive, so much so that tickling them can cripple him swiftly. His love of mortal beings is seconded by his curiosity, much of which is driven but a strong wonder component. His hope quirk keeps both his spirits up, but more importantly, it makes him prone to accepting requests for aid with little reservation as an agent of hope for others.

It is very hard to do and few if any have ever seen it, but Ritz can get angry, which should not be confused with frustrated. Frustrated causes vending machines to be open to cough up the twinkies he paid for. Angry means something is going to get broken, and Ritz again relies heavily on Open to mangle the world around him. For instance, he might cause a tank to fall into pieces right down to the pilots armor and leave both the tank and the wardrobe in a state of malfunction. He never has done such, but his ribbon like tail is just as sharp and blade like as Flare's if he should wish it to be, and there are not many forms of matter that can stand up against the composition of a chodonex.

Ritz it more prone to injury than Echo or Flare. This comes from a strong, almost duty-like, need to protect people, and that also means protecting them in their dreams where he becomes very vulnerable. he is a decent dream warrior, and his hope quirk helps him mend dreams while a strong wonder component helps him tweak the environment around him. However, he lacks a dream quirk, and this makes him the most vulnerable of his kin as he does not have a direct link into the realm of dream. Instead, he is the most mortal like with Flare being a close second.

Of the trio, only Ritz possesses the wonder quirk, and it is his dominant particle. With a touch of hope, wonder is what makes Ritz childlike and playful much of the time. To him, mortals and their lives are not just interesting, they are magical with the shared wonder of others being his favorite shared experience. He is very prone to taking people to far off worlds and things they would never otherwise experience just to share that feeling.

A Somber Lesson

Ritz knows how much power he has and what he can do with his highest transitions with Revert. He also knows how dangerous it is to meddle in some affairs. Long ago, he was present in the city of Pompeii, and when the dust settles, there were two living things left: Ritz and the young woman he was with. However, she was now alone aside from Ritz, and losing everything and being left behind was worst to her than death. Ritz felt completely responsible, and the pain of regret is almost as poisonous to him as wrath, and so he swore to her two things. The first is that he will not kill her. The second was that he would re-unite her with her family. Through dangerous use of open in places of delicate spacetime, he carried her to the brink of death, and for the first and only time, he acted as a psychopomp. Watching her cross over, he also learned that there is no place to chodonex in death.

Inside Ritz

While Ritz can eat food, there is no apparent exit power on his body. His mouth is the only real passage in as nose and ears are almost superficial. Even strager is that Ritz can stuff just about anything in his mouth and it will make itself fit, but where it goes is a mystery to anyone outside, just as where all those twinkies go if he isn't metabolizing them. But what would it be like if you entered Ritz's body?

The first thing one would note is that while the surfaces inside of Ritz are somewhat slippery, they are not at all wet. As one would expect, it is dark inside, but only up to a point at which those entering would find themselves floating in a wide open sky! From high above, they would see a central location far below with five arms spreading out like a starfish. Looking out further on the horizon, however, would reveal that they are not starfish like but rather the central hug of a massive fractal. ONe can travel in any direction at any speed and always find more tiny details to explore that range from natural expanses to mysterious cities and apparently only the flitting ghosts of other beings darting in and out of the whole thing.

Each arm is different though for one reason: Each arm of the fractal has exactly one chodonex, and each one is unique. In the case of Ritz, the colors are Red, Green,. Blue, Black, and White. The first three are common to all chodonex, but black and white are unique to Ritz. In the event Ritz dies, these new chodonex will arise in his place at random coordinates in the universe and will assume names of their own but will keep RItz's quirk and orbital properties.

Of course, escape from inside Ritz is another thing. The only way out is the way one comes in, and one can always find the way home by following the fractals back to their origin.

Of course, one could meet one of the chodonex inside. They have a vague feeling there are others, but they are content to move ever outwards and cause the fractal to spread before them.
