Physical Appearance

Miguel is a stereotypical gryphon with an eagle's head and a lion's body. However, he often covers himself in heavy robes with a hoof that leave jut a bit of his beak showing. Often using 'The Bard' as a stage name, he appears without giving up his identity during performances, and he has succeeded for some time with the exception of a performance against Ember where the crowd chose her as the 'winner' at which both sides exposed their identities. Outside of performances, he could be easily mistaken for a construction worker, wearing blue jeans and a pocketed work shirt. His hind legs are those of a lion while his hands are scaled and bear talons like an eagle which he uses with great expertise on most stringed instruments.

Creation of the Muse

As one of the oldest muses, at least those born of Jinx's influence, Miguel was born from the echoes of drums and thunder. He has always been a powerful force among the muses, and for hundreds of years he wandered North America and inspired the song of ancient civilizations, but never allowed himself to be openly seen or detected. He has been called a thunderbird by some, a bard by others, and all of these would be accurate. Miguel put a great deal of effort into obscuring who he is, and he rarely spends long in any location. As such, he is very much what most think of in a muse: fickle and yet something every artist needs. He appears, inspires, and moves on, or at least he did until roughly the same time Candice White came into being.

Creation of the Whimsy

All Whimsies come from exposing a muse to a Nothing without allowing it to decay or vanish. They always emerge with something missing from their origin. In Miguel's case, the exposure came from Morticon and Zen's passage through the Wonderlands and into the past in order to stop the influence of the Outer Gods from taking over the past and future. Not far from Stonehenge, Morticon and Zen discovered Miguel in combat with the Nothing, a battle the muse could never win. Before Miguel could be destroyed, Morticon and Zen discovered truth behind the the nothing, and they saved from Miguel from destruction. What they did not know, was that Miguel had already lost something: compassion. The Nothing had taken it, and now he lacked it. This absence of compassion allowed him to go on to commit atrocities that went on to condemn thousands of innocents to death in a war to find weapons against The Nothing that included the LOKI class assault mech.

Salvation

Only when Gravitas caused a Big Crunch and reset the known universe was Miguel allowed some pardon. He remains a whimsy, and he has forgotten nothing. It has rendered him humble and much more careful in his work. He now persists on Spindizzy and other location as a musical instructor, trying very much much to take on the role he once had in ages past. He has partnered with Winifred to create a school for the arts including music, theater, and even martial arts. Winnifred has become his best friend and the one most able to keep him on the right path.
