Cassie

When it comes to vengeful do-gooders, Cassie was one of the earliest attackers the SED lost to and was forced to deal with. A product of the SED-caused zombie apocalypse, Cassie came to the SED's door armed with superior strength, combat training, and some of the most advanced weapons she could find.

The song 'Cassie' by Flyleaf is where Cassie's name comes from.

While the song has a different meaning, I place Cassie in control of the gun in her case as the punisher of evil deeds and people.

D'ni System:

Cybernetic arm: Has enhances strength. Mounting point is at the shoulder using a full replacement of the shoulder.

Anti-Magic Powercell: This powers the arm but also can absorb enormous amount of magical energy, enough to negate a dark god's infestation

Anti-Magic Spikes: Three lines run from the shoulder into the chest and abdomen, shielding Cassie from magic and preventing zombification

Armory

DP-PS88 Portable shield

The PS88 is a cartridge loaded portable shield capable of deflecting most rifle and automatic weapon fire as well as explosive weapons. Power is supplied as a cartridge that is loaded like a gun magazine. Spent cartridges are disposable, and loading a new cartridge brings the shield back to full power.

Custom .50 cal nitro revolver

In the same way that Ember uses her enhanced strength to wield weapons that would literally break the wrist of an organic user with the first shot, Cassie carried a six shot reinforced revolver and wildcat rounds. Cassie carries tracer, incendiary, armor piercing, and explosive rounds.

DP-M28 Dual Purpose Pistol

The M28 is capable of using conventional gunpowder fired rounds as well as special energy-based projectiles interchangeably. This is not a typical weapon for Cassie as it is a special issue weapon. Her intended target of the SED warranted the additional firepower, but only standard rounds we issued.

Fragmentation Grenades

The standard fragmentation grenade because a bullet might have your name on it, but these are addressed 'To whom it may concern'

Cassie's Story

Childhood

Cassie was born in Neopolis with her mother Mary, her father Sam, and her younger sister Ellie. Sam, an officer in the Neopolis Police Department working alongside Static taught his girls self defense at an early age. Both were enrolled in martial arts programs when they were six, and both girls were eventually highly ranked black belts by the time they were ten and nine respectively. While both were skilled, Ellie was the better of the two, and she had a passion for going beyond her lessons while Cassie became interested in her father's work with forensics and crime scene investigation being a focus for her.

Neither of them would have the chance to follow up on their childhood passions as what seemed like the end of days came upon them.

Of Zombies and Minks

As it was for many living in Neopolis, the coming of a zombie plague was the end of Cassie's family. Caused by the use of a D'ni object referred to as the Ghost Box, the soulless body of a neopolis citizen was taken over by a spirit of the dark got Apsu, turning it into a form of magical zombie. with ever kill it made, a new empty shell was liberated for the spirit to spread until all out chaos was unleashed in the city. Cassie's father, a police officer, was among those killed early in attempts to contain the plague. By the time it make it to Cassie's home, it was a full war, and during the combat her mother and sister were crushed to death in a building collapse that claimed Cassie's left arm and right eye in addition to a bite to her right flank by one of the zombies.

Left alone, she would have become another of the undead. However, Cassie was rescued and carried away in a blanket by one of her neighbors, a wolf, who worked for a company called defendplex. As if her injuries were not enough, Cassie was a strange mutant among the infected in that her weak hold on her soul made it possible for zombification to begin before she was fully dead. Only the descendants of the D'ni minks recognized this and managed to delay the process using artifacts from the ancient city to drain power from Apsu's infection. She was fitted with a cybernetic eye, provided with pain medication for her ongoing suffering, and eventually fitted with a D'ni cybernetic arm. For some, she was a poster child for Defendplex's ability to care for the casualties of war. To those that worked with magic and had to be near her and her magic-devouring arm, she was not a favorite.

Though her wounds were tended to, this thirteen year old was frightful to look upon with mangled flesh at her right side, cybernetic replacements, and a generally defeated look to her face. The telepathic minks knew this, and eventually they were able to help her face the woman she saw in the mirror and the nightmares she saw when she closed her eyes. They and their allies became her new family, and slowly she began trying to understand why this had happened at all. While she tries to keep up with home schooled classes, her investigations into the lore of D'ni and what became known about the SED would turn her down a dark path that only she could walk even if many others wished they could have.

Anti-SED Agent

Even Cassie is not sure exactly how the information was leaked to her, but through Defendplex he discovered an artifact had been taken from an ancient city, and that theywere fairly sure of who had it in their possession. Some think it was her adopted father that let her find it, while others suspect outside affiliates that had com to know her. Either way, she was set to do what they all wanted to do: destroy the ones who destroyed their lives.

With her connections, Cassie had access to weapons and prototypes few knew about. After a year of rehabilitation, she was able to perform nearly as well as she once had athletically including martial arts. Her father's friends, those that remained alive, taught her the basics of stalking, sneaking, and dealing with armed assailants. With the added strength her arm and the infection gave her, she was prepared to seek and destroy. The best place to begin was the launch facility the SED maintained, and it was there she staged her offensive.
