Single target for damage: 4m
The skunk forcefully exhales while focusing and their spit to launch a projectile of stinking, corrosive liquid at a single foe like a spitting cobra.This consumes a charge and causes acid damage and can damage visors and respirators
Close range ‘stun’: up to three adjacent squares
The skunk exhales and with a minimal amount of toxic spit to cause stunningly bad breath at up to three squares adjacent to and in front of the skunk. This has no effect on those with respirators or sealed armor.
Opposed by moderate check or dodge roll
‘Damage’ 5D resisted by strength as normal
Charges
A skunk carries 6 charges that renew naturally at a rate of 1 charge per 24 hours


Effects

  • Stun
results are as normal;
  • Wound and Double Wound
Cause the target to become blind and suffer a -1D penalty to all skill checks until a Moderate First Aid check can be made to clear the character's eyes and nose of the spray chemical;
  • Incapacitated
Results in the character becoming blind and suffering a -2D penalty to all skill checks until a Difficult First Aid check can be made;
  • Mortally Wounded
Results in the character falling prone and being completely unable to take action unless a Very Difficult First Aid check can be made;
  • Killed
Results in the character falling unconscious and requires treatment at a medical facility before the character can regain consciousness.


Skill Bonuses

At the time the character is created only, the character gains 2D for every 1D placed in the Skunk Spray, Stamina, Intimidation, Willpower skills.


Unit Creation Notes

Skunks are one of the wildkin species that come along with their own chemical weapons. Unfortunately, those weapons are not optimally placed for use in a soldier. Having to move their armor and turn their backs to an enemy negates any usefulness of their natural weapons. Using the wildkin skunk as a template and performing logical hybridization with other toxic species produced the CCD/W Skunk. Because the glands that are used to make the spray are only glands, their position has been moved and modified. The liquid deterrent has been rendered even more dangerous by adapting the spray to work under corrosive conditions. The skunk’s salivary glands have been partially repurposed along with two sinus cavities to hole the new binary reagent that does not take on scent nor corrosive components until just after it is ejected by a powerful new spitting processed guided by a small orifice that opens just up and between the front teeth. This lets the skunk sight targets down its nose for greater accuracy and up to four meters out with practice. An alternative close range attack is possible with a less powerful spitting force and a much larger exhalation to create what the team has dubbed ‘death breath’ that can stun targets directly adjacent and in front of the skunk.


With regard to the new formulation, the modified glands and spitting mechanism were inspired from the bombardier beetle and the spitting cobra respectively. The new reactive formula will blister skin, can cause lasting eye damage, and has permanently fogged armor visors and disabled respirators on rare occasion. These new skunks can be reproduced using the Wildkin reproduction model, and to avoid injuries in their handling, the ferals have been shaped to be friendly and easily handled. Once they mature and their shape transitions to their induced anthropomorphic state, they remain well behaved and readily trained in the same way the HFH-1 series does by design. They also carry the Wildkin Rev 2 pharmaceutical control system, but control chipping is still highly recommended in this units as mandatorily requiring them to carry and use mint gum.
