The best kept secret

The secret regarding regarding how Ripley obtained his wealth is worth far more than his fortune. An elderly Bothan of seventy years, the absolute magnitude of his influence and secrecy is baffling and seem to contradict each other. What no one else knows is that Ripley is an ancient title passed down from various spies, pirates, and bounty hunters that all have a certain knack for operating below radar.

To complicate matters more, there are between two and five Ripleys active in the galaxy at a time with varying means of fulfilling their destiny. Established around the times the first major hyperspace lanes emerged, the Ripleys have gone from marauders to bounty hunters to information brokers. The one rules of the Ripley's is the never allow anyone to know the truth, and this often means careful work with your crews and and still keep even them from knowing all the truth.

Handovers from one Ripley to the next is often subtle and involves one fading while one rises. They do meet on occasion to trade intel, and that is how their massive, shadowy hand began to creep over the galaxy. It is not the desire of the Ripleys to command everything but rather to have their fingers in the right pies at any time to accomplish other goals.

Individual Ripleys vary with their desires and techniques just as much as any group of people might. Content to let big cartels and governments mangle each other, they bide their time for now, believe it or not.

The Eight - Ripley the Bothan

Better known than most is the retired bounty hunter under the name Ripley. A twilight Ripley at age seventy, he is passing his torch on in a way non have ever done: having a custom organism made to rise to the position. Its is hard to know which of the R-HFH1 Felyxa will become his successor in time, but there is no doubt among his peers that it will be one of those Custom Chimera Division units that he invested in.
