Unit History

The CCD LAE is almost as old as the PIXC in the history of the Custom Chimera Division. Much larger than the PIXC, the LAE was envisioned to be much stronger and take advantage of insectoid strength. The experiment did not yield such a winged super soldier, but it did produce a relatively agile pistoleer and personal escort. With four dedicated arms, unlike the later HFH-1 that has dual purpose middle limbs, an effort was made to provide the LAE with more advanced attack options. In theory, the LAE can wield up to four blaster pistols in combat, but the more practical variant was two pistols or, when needed, two rifles. The former still leaves more hands free while the later is dedicated to combat. Others have been trained to use their multiple strike skills in melee combat and even brawling, but LAE are light duty and tend to suffer from low strength and fragile wings. LAE also excel at mechanical tasks where their extra limbs aid in managing controls.

In terms of personality, LAE are friendly, loyal, and will readily put themselves between their escort and harm Their large wings are well suited to shielding people from cameras, and when not in use as a screen, their wings are often regarded as beautiful and artistic. Both natural and artificial color patterns are available.

LAE have a growth curve similar to wildkin because of their insect nature, and they can be laid in eggs in huge numbers. A similar but more primitive version of the wildkin system was used to get the insects from hatchling to chrysalis and then use the time of metamorphosis as a means to increase size and complexity of the organism. However, LAE tend to be more frail than wildkin and do best when used as support troops, long range snipers, and as a compliment to larger species like bears.
