Summary

The Bhyrbadydi, more often called Deedees, are an unusual class of espers in that they are not just a single individual but a reasonably sized clan of espers that have staked out their own territory in the Dreamscape. Making their home in tundra and other frozen places, they are deadly hunters with speed and attack strategies that often make people thing of them as ice bandersnatch. Unlike bandersnatch, who originate from the Cheshire Wonderland, Deedees were spawned in the wake of The Jynx's resurrection as Virgil Murphy.

Oddly enough, the closest relative to the Deedees are not Bandersnatch but rather the Chodonex. They are both dream entities spawned from Chaos itself as it formed some of its defenses against Darkness in the very early universe. While the Chodonex were know to come into being at the very moment Dream split from the other forces of nature, Deedees emerged later as the Dreamscape expanded and settled into some sense of being. This means that Deedees as a species go back a very long way, but the nature of their being means their linear time lifetimes are much shorter than that.

Vocalizations

Overall, Deedees tend to be very quiet creatures which is how they get their reputations as 'Silent Death' or 'Icy Death'. However, the most common sound they make is very similar to that of a chickadee which is a track of Deedeedee sounds. While extremely dangerous, they are not aggressive without reason. Sighting one can called out their sound is most likely to get a return call. With both parties obvious, meetings between the two are less likely to end in injuries.

Behavior

Deedees are not overly aggressive, but they are incredibly dangerous and can often be lethal. On their own, they often accompany Dreams of Glory and Questing Dreamers where their swift movements and sharp claws are nothing less than vorpal. When they cross over and inhabit a vehicle, they often cause said vehicle to be quieter and more damaging that it should rightly be on its own. Deedees are hunters, but they do so with purpose.

Deedee have a strong sense of honor. Sullying their honor is a good way to be challenged, but their reputation often keeps that kind of foolishness to a minimum. They look for places in combat where they can fight along kindred spirits. To fight for the greater good and be the underdog is the best way to attract one. However, Deedees don't linger as long as other espers, and they often bounce from place to place, so their presence is harder to detect without looking at the larger picture.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon is a Deedee that grew up on the British Isles. In his unbound days, he would appears in forests and along the coasts where it seemed like he was the cause of the fog when it would roll in around him. Enjoying the hunt for other beasts and fae, he was known for acting as an escort along trails that were dangerous either by men or monsters. Like a lot of guardian espers, he felt it was good to give genuinely good people help at times when life seemed unfair.

However, that never stopped him from haunting some sites to the point exorcists were brought in to cleans the place. Such was the playful, trouble making essence of his kind. It would remain as such even through conflicts up until the Great War. During WWI, he didn't know who to side with, and so he remained on the island and kept up what he always did. When the second world war came about, however, the enemy seemed much clearer to him, and other espers were already gathering to protect the isles while others tries to cover those in the mainland. It was a time that also pit esper against esper as there were certainly many gray areas in that time period.

Reese opted to go with small fighters, but when the Beaufighter came about, he was smitten with it. Just as Trouble and Bertha took to the B-17G, Reese found his home in the relatively large single pilot craft. Anyone who he flew with would claim the engines were quieter than usual, the radar sharper, and the weapons more effectice. Some even noted the plane seemed faster, all of these borrowing from the properties of the deedees.

Reese went missing along with his plane and pilot sometime in the winter during a night flight over Germany. No wreck was ever found, and even those in his flight said the plane just vanished.
