Background

The YES system was built in response to shortages in available teachers and a need for more careful instruction at an early age. YES are simply reprogrammed PMAA units that have upgraded data storage and learning algorithms. While the PMAA is meant to be polite and efficient, YES has what most perceive as more patience and a better ability to the needs of the students. YES are often deployed in groups of three to four per classroom and are subservient to the teacher. Because having several units per class make the size of the class effectively smaller, YES provide a more personalized instruction that tends to make students feel included. YES will never scold a student but will instead explore computational space until they find a means of communication that suits their student best.

YES, like PMAA, are often remembered fondly by adults though some instead become embittered as adults by the fact they were schooled by a machine.
