Theme Song and Inspiration
Flying dreams as a whole were inspired by the song from the Secret of NIHM soundtrack. They come in many varieties, but all flying dreams are good dreams, and they are all tied to some form of love.
Reverie comes from the song by Sarah McLachlan specifically "We were born from the wreckage of your silent reverie."
These two song make up the bases of Reverie and other forms of Reveries.
Background
Lover's Reverie
As a lover's reverie, Reverie it the wings upon which lovers fly in their dreams. They are the basis on which lovers seem to share common dreams and the feeling of elation and flight that many feel when in love.
Reverie, or in full Lover's Reverie, was one such dream. Curious and naive, Lover's reveries are capable of flights without limit in height, speed, or distance. However, by default, they are lovers and not fighter in the literal sense. Unfortunately, they also have the potential to get into places they shouldn't.
Into the Real World
The Machine
Deep in the SED base is a machine, and that machine is connected to a magical mirror that leads into a dreamworld. It so happened that Reverie found one of the points of entry through this dream mirror into the real world. Dreams are more or less intangible things, but the machine provided the power to give Reverie a physical body.
Dream Becomes Nightmare
Reverie's problems began with her extreme claustrophobia. As a flying dream, being trapped inside an underground bunker was a nightmare. She was moved to the above ground manor where she then escaped into Spindizzy as a whole.
Dreams can fade and die, or they can be come something worse: nightmares. Innocent and pure, Reverie was unable to understand why others tried to chase her away from children, kindred spirits to her, among other things. She was subjected to hatred and fear for the first time, and the core of her being began to turn dark.
Beautiful whites and blues became charcoal black and blood red. Sharp teeth and razor sharp claws of the kind that one can only imagine began to replace the tender beauty she represented before the change. Even a nightmare has hopes of something, even if dark, but Reverie was now a being of opposites, and her hope began to fade. Without hope, a dream will die.
