Omni-Cybernetic Weapon Platform

  • First Appearance 900 BBY
  • Move: 10/14
  • Size 1.2-1.5 meters
  • Weight0 kg
  • Attribute Dice: 12D; Dexterity 1D/4D, Knowledge 1D/4D, Mechanical 1D/5D, Perception 1D/4D, Strength 1D/3D, Technical 1D/5D.
  • Appearace: OCWP tend to be slender figured that some would consider delicate. They can vary in apparent species, and they often look like mixed breeds depending on the product series, but they always appear non-human. While they are not as durable as some, their delicate paws and their obvious cyber integration gives them incredible mechanical and technical skill. Short of trying to make someone cower, OCWP are not very social, and they don't often betray a wide variety of emotions, but there are exceptions to the rule.

Special Abilities

OCWP Cybernetic Interface
The heart, or brain really, of the OCWP is its expanded nervous system built for cybernetic remote control operations. An fully outfitted OCWP can be fitted with several modules and later upgraded without extensive surgery, but they are obviously augmented.
  • OCWP Hardpoint is the master technical skill.
    • Every 2D in OCWP Hardpoint allows you to use one additional hardpoint to a max of 6
    • OCWP Hardpoint is also used for OCWP Techniques much like a martial arts maneuvers before a brawl attack.
    • Hardpoints add their own abilities. Some hardpoints use more than one slot.
  • Attacking with a OCWP weapon uses Mechanical instead of Dexterity. However, you MUST have at least 1D specialized in your hardpoint use it in combat. For example, to use a OCWP Hover Rifle, you need 1D minimum in Mechanical (S) OCWP Hover Rifle

OCWP Skills and controls are technical based skills, and they are used to perform checks much like one would do a martial arts move prior to making the subsequent attack roll

  • Sensory and Interface Skills
    • These include enhanced computer and droid skills, sensor integration, enhanced sensory abilities, security interfaces, and communication
  • Combat Systems
    • These include operating the custom OCWP hover weapons and attached shield operation
    • OCWP Hover weapons attack using Mechanical not Dexterity. However, to use a OCWP weapons, you MUST have the corresponding weapon specialty.
Augmented Sight and Hearing
This expands and greatly enhances the unit's sight and vision. However, because of the additional load, this power must be activated and kept up. This required an easy check using the technical skill "OCWP Ops" (S) OCWP Sensory skill. While active, sight and hearing are increased by 2D, vision covers normal and infra vision, and hearing expands well into the supersonic.

Skill Bonuses

At the time the character is created only, the character gets 2D for every 1D placed in:

  • Sensors
  • Search
  • Communications
  • Equipment Repair
  • Intimidation

Hardpoints

Utility Pods

Sensor Expansion
Standard sensors can be integrated into the OCWP at the cost of a hardpoint. They are operated under the Sensors skill, but they gain a bonus equal to the OCWP Ops skill.
Communications Relay
An OCWP can deploy on a site as a comm relay and vastly improve the quality of communications in the area. A comm OCWP reduces the difficulty of Communications checks by one level.
Ranged Targeting
Must be equipped on a weapon and costs an additional hardpoint. This reduces the difficulty of long-range shots by one level with that weapon.
Flight Pod
Allows the use of an OCWP specialized rocket or jet pack. Rocket and jet pack ops remain the same, but they benefit from the OCWP Ops dice as a bonus.
Expanded Combat Control
This allows the OCWP the option of deploying it's weapons up to 20 meters away similar to the force power Kinetic Combat. This is a difficult skill check, but it need only pass once per combat or scene. OCWP weapons don't generally have cameras unless they are equipped with a pod, so line of sight is needed to be useful.

History

The OCWP started as a conversation about whether cybernetic augmentation should be a component of CCD units. In general, organic and organo-mimetics were what gave CCD units their edge, but CCD engineers are pragmatic empiricists, and so the hypothesis needed to be tested. They began with a fairly generic organic frame with a custom nervous system that consisted of a primary brain of normal architecture with six smaller sub-brains in the torso tucked along the spine in pairs in the chest cavity. Each brain was linked to an interface plate that could be used to link custom cybernetics to the sub-brains.

Being grown to handle cybernetics and the trained to master them, there were consequences for the OCWP. First was their obvious augmentation that led the team to opt for an all-out approach with its weapons that hopefully might have a shock and awe effect. In line with this was their much colder personalities. Their detached emotional state was credited to the training of using cold weapons on a living interface. OCWP that never see integration of tools approached something more normal, and therefore the seeing of life through the eye of a rifle scope was a contributing factor to their poor social abilities.

When deployed on the field, however, they were reliable, dangerous, and demoralizing. Some suspected that with enough advanced augmentation, a properly equipped OCWP might even deflect blaster bolts, though most opted to just load a small force field generator. After a test run of fifty units, the remaining twenty were put into cryostorage save for two that have been retained for occasional deployment.
