Description

At first glance Mappy appears to be some sort of moth. Large brown eyes bear dark spots that could be pupils or something like them, and unlike the insect, they are protected by eyelids. His head is covered by something like short, silky white fur except for his cheeks which are orange. Atop of his head sprouts a pair of long, black, feathery antennae that are easily a foot long. His head rests in a dense mane of white fluff that spills over his upper thorax on the front and all the way down to the bases of his wings on the back. The rest of his body is covered in white fluff of medium length that makes him look warm and fuzzy except for his arms and legs which bear much shorter fuzz past the elbow and knees.

Mappy has four nearly white wings but for a few speckles of black towards the trailing edge of the hindwings and the much larger forewings. His hind wings are normally hidden by the larger fore wings when standing as the latter are tucked down over his back in a way that makes it look like he is wearing a cape. Of other limbs he has six. His legs are fuzzy at his thigh and very thin below the knee with four delicate toes arranged almost like a birds foot. His upper and lower pair of arms differ only in the at upper arm of the upper pair bear a splash or orange long the front that matches his cheeks while the lower pair bears white fluff. From the elbow onward, both pairs of arms are again very slender and covered in white fuzz. His hands have three fingers and a thumb each, are uniformly black, and are almost comically thin. Mappy usually walks on two feet and uses both pairs of arms for manipulating objects, but he can be found using his lower arms for a better footing and all six together when climbing. He favors his upper pair of arms for most daily tasks, but he can use all four independently with ease.

His fluff makes the distinction between his head, thorax, and abdomen difficult, but the abdomen is defined by seven black dots on each side just below a thin line or orange that marks the midline on the sides of his abdomen, and these correspond to his spiracles. As a whole, his abdomen is held in a manner similar to mammals that have thick tails. Tilted away from his legs slightly, it reached just past his knees, and it is often obscured from behind by his wings.

Mappy usually wears custom tailored shirts and coverall pants both the pockets in each but also for the colors they add to his otherwise nearly white body. When traveling, he usually adds a sturdy belt and an array of pouches at his waist, and he can even be seen with a small bed roll and document tubes slung low on his back and resting at the top of his abdomen, the latter carrying both maps and tools for map making. However, when at work or otherwise not on an adventure, he likes to wear red, orange, and sometimes green silk sashes around his middle. One constant in his attire is a small translator module that converts his speech to other languages because he cannot speak most local languages without assistance even though he can hear and understand them.
