D'Ni Longbow Base

Cassie

Cassie appears first as an elderly jackal with a cybernetic right arm and left eye. She assists the group in getting Vivinne settle atop of the base and Ardan into a medbay where he can recover. Several things are learned about her over the time she chats with Fenris and shows him around some of the base.

• Cassie is 500000 years old. She has been sustaining herself with an artificial body and her soul bound to a crystal much like the souls of the Mirilid were on the ship
• Cassie's new body is massive and on the scale of an imperial walker but faster and more agile.
• Cassie cannot project her spirit outside of Longbow base both because of limitation on her ability and the hostile environment outside
• She knows a great deal of this world's history and its people.

Stolen Tech

• A device referred to as the Ghost Box is a soul transit unit meant to be used in a larger teleporter that was used last to send the souls of the D'Ni minks back to the galaxy.
• Given the time and direction, it is revealed that Ardan is a D'Ni mink that has reincarnated as a Dasher
• To get away from this place, they will need to get the Ghost Box back from the Sineestri.
• Cassie controls the matter conduit unit that the Sinestri would need to make a teleporter, so both sides are locked in a stalemate.

The Aerlithi

Living spacecraft, they are revealed to be the merger of Mirilid and Kestri technologies in an effort to get off the planet and out of the system. Most were shot down, and if any others like Vivinne escaped, it is not known where they ended up. Vivinne is far too young to remember that time, and she must have hatched elsewhere. How she got to the galaxy is unknown.

• Cassie rescued and placed over two dozen Aerlithi eggs in stasis which are now being given to Vivinne as she is the rightful heir to them.

Ardan

Ardan is suffering from a form of soul sickness. His spirit is back in his body, but he has two lifetimes that are trying to merge, and he is struggle with sorting them out as they start to blur. Perhaps more important, these different sets of memories are starting to evoke questions he would not have otherwise asked. Because he is caught in a state of internal conflict and confusion, his psionic abilities are likewise scrambled.
